But this was taken in New Hampshire, and the guy transports boats from the factory in Tennessee, so apparently it’s legit. I’ve just never seen anything like this on the road, before or since.

You can see how the boat gets on and off easily, with the forklift. But wow. That boat is about 3,500 lbs dry weight. It’s not the total weight that scares me so much as the center of gravity.

Greenback, TN? Is that what it says? Never heard of it.

Pop: 1,064 according to Wikipedia. Immediately adjacent to the town where MCs are built...

This feels like colossally bad idea.

Here is the biggest issue I see: Where is that 3500 lbs boat going to end up in a crash without bunk stops? Those straps aren’t going to cut it. I know a kid that was nearly killed when his folks had a wreck pulling a lighter weight boat that was strapped down but without bunk stops that shot off the trailer and through the back of the van onto his head.

Ah. Okay, not an East Tennesseean, so that’s probably why it did ring a bell. That rig does look awfully precarious. I’d stay back a ways.

Yeah, this seems almost halfway ok until you consider an accident, or any kind of avoidance maneuver. Plus he’s towing another big MC on a trailer. But clearly it does work under normal conditions, because there he was!

And that Rover looks a bit more tippy than the dually...

I love how the guy rolling it up looks so casual.

Also, WHY DID YOU TURN?!

like most bad ideas, it works right up until it doesn’t.

I’m in New Hampshire and I’ve lived here a long time and STILL there are towns I’ve never heard of, many of which are bigger than Greenback, TN. Which isn’t hard, I suppose. But my town is only about 1,800.

The boat costs over 100k and this is the best way they can think to transport it? Maybe a 10k fishing boat, but an X15?
